help!

So, after my Environmental Health class, I decided Charlie and I needed natural laundry detergent.

Well. Natural laundry detergent from Whole Foods (the cheapest one) DOES NOT SMELL GOOD.

In fact, after I wash our clothes and sniff them (using a naturally scented "fabric softener" too!) our clothes smell closer to neutral mold than clean clothes.

HOW DO I FIX THIS?  I can't bring myself to throw it out.

I've tried adding some drops of essential oils (both rosemary and peppermint) to the wash and dry cycles.

NOTHING.

  1. Have you considered...the source of the smell?? You can't smell anything but you can smell stinky Charlie clothes haha!!

  2. I recently made some of my own with this deliciously yummy smelling bar of Dr. Bronner's soap - the citrus scent. I found a recipe online but I think it's literally just that bar of soap mixed with borax and arm and hammer washing soda. I absolutely LOVE the smell of it. :)

  3. I made my own for a long time using Fels Naptha, why oh why didn't I think to use Dr. Bronners? I now use Ecos from Sams. Lovely lavender scent and uber concentrated so it lasts forever.

My best friend Charlie and I moved from the deep South to the great North for me to go to graduate school at the University of Minnesota. I earned a Masters Degree in Public Health Nutrition and Dietetics, and we've moved back to Louisiana. I'm a dietitian who wants to help people improve their quality of life through healthy eating! We love adventures, traveling, food and family. We have two dogs: our corgi Punkin and our lab goofy Rufus. We are very blessed to be in love and to walk through life together!
