Ode to Childhood Sunday Afternoons

Big navy bows to
top off the perfect
hair-curling job
mom did before church.

Just enough
Mary-Kay blush to make me feel
like a "big girl" ready for
the Bible lesson.

White, itchy hose
that help my feet slip into the
little
   black
shiny Sunday shoes with a brass clasp.

And then, coming home
to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
and the most comfortable play clothes
I've ever worn, which take me back into my world
of jump ropes
    and dirt
and hide-and-go-seek with the neighborhood kids.

My best friend Charlie and I moved from the deep South to the great North for me to go to graduate school at the University of Minnesota. I earned a Masters Degree in Public Health Nutrition and Dietetics, and we've moved back to Louisiana. I'm a dietitian who wants to help people improve their quality of life through healthy eating! We love adventures, traveling, food and family. We have two dogs: our corgi Punkin and our lab goofy Rufus. We are very blessed to be in love and to walk through life together!
