Lovely

I love this lady so much. She spent her day helping out a friend... and tomorrow to help another. I'm not really surprised. That's how she is.

Lovely. And ALWAYS giving, giving, giving. Aaaaaand giving.
Gah. I'll be pretty generous if I can learn to be less selfish and 1/8th as generous as her. With my time. And my energy. And my love.

You've lovely, Mama. I know God will let you reap every beautiful seed you've sown.  I love you!

conversations.

Target cashier(TC): Hi, how are you today? What do you have going on this weekend?
Mom (M): Well I'm in town for a few days! I came all the way from Arkansas. What about you? Do you have plans this weekend?
TC: I do! I have a funeral to go to. And then tonight, mumblemumblemumblemumble duck.
M: You're going to make duck tonight?
TC: Yes.
Stephanie (S): Me and my husband LOVE duck.
TC: Yeah, my friend wants me to have it. I don't know WHAT to do with it.
S: Ahhh... well, you just roast it for a VERY long time!
TC: That's not very nice!
S: Oh... uhhh...
Customer behind me (CBM): *chuckle chuckle chuckle*
TC: It's just a baby duck! My friend hatched it at school.
CBM: Then just roast it for HALF the time! *chuckle chuckle chuckle*
S: Imean... I don't eat EVERY duck I meet!
TC: I just don't know what to do with a duck, you know? I come home and I have to clean it's bedding 5 or 6 times a day! I should give it to my mom. She always wanted to have a farm. My friend wants me to get a chicken. Then we'll have a duck and a chicken. What am I going to do with a duck and a chicken? Alright, You have a nice weekend!
S: Have fun with your duck? Bye!
CBM: *chuckle chuckle chuckle*

Prayers, Please

Last night, my uncle in Tulsa got hit by a drunk driver (hit and run) while he was walking out from Walmart to his car, carrying groceries.

All 4 limbs were broken, and he's been in facial reconstruction surgery for most of today. He's now in surgery reconstruction for both of his arms... and his leg surgeries will be tomorrow morning.

Please pray for wisdom from ALL the doctors and nurses and surgeons and everyone who will be working with him.  Please pray for my cousin Ella, who was waiting for him in the car and found him when she heard a lot of commotion. I can only imagine how traumatizing that image would be. Please pray for my Aunt and their other son that they will all feel God's peace and strength with them through all of this.   And just please pray that he will have a miraculous recovery. The first surgeon actually said that he's never seen such a damaged face with ONLY a broken nose. And they also said it's a miracle his spine wasn't broken.

So, please pray for all of them.

Introducinggggg

Our new residence for 2013!!!  I've been holding this inside of me for a LONG time now, and I've been waiting for the finalization of everything to share it with y'all. Well, Charlie just got off the phone with one of his cousins, and things are final!  We are going to be caretakers (so to speak) for at least a year! And we can't wait. A lot of praying and dreaming went into this :)

(Seriously?! We're going to LIVE here?!)

exiting

I just completed "Exit Counselling" on my student loans.

Thanks, government.  Yes, I know I am in debt. Yes, I know I shouldn't now go and max out 17 credit cards.

Thanks. I get it. I owe you. A lot.

NEXT

I've never read the book. And I actually never really liked the movie. But I think I'm in the mood for it now and that I'll enjoy it. I enjoyed Sense and Sensibility, and that one isn't as famous as this one. So hopefully there's a reason for that.

We've been cleaning. And going through stuff. And I've been trying to imagine how we're going to fit all of our stuff into a limited amount of space in our vehicles and the trailer Charlie's going to pull. This move isn't in some MASSIVE Penske truck. I actually shudder to think we had that much stuff. Imean I know furniture is good and you need it. But the stuffstuff. The STUFF. That we don't need. Or that really isn't that valuable sentimentally. Even some of the sentimental stuff should probably go. That's what Charlie and I are working toward. Keeping the most important stuff. There's that word again. STUFF. Maybe it's less important to us now after living up here for a couple of years. Probably so.

Craiglist is going to be our summer friend.

My best friend Charlie and I moved from the deep South to the great North for me to go to graduate school at the University of Minnesota. I earned a Masters Degree in Public Health Nutrition and Dietetics, and we've moved back to Louisiana. I'm a dietitian who wants to help people improve their quality of life through healthy eating! We love adventures, traveling, food and family. We have two dogs: our corgi Punkin and our lab goofy Rufus. We are very blessed to be in love and to walk through life together!
